The Celtic League Director of information has written to Transparency International (TI) asking why the Isle of Man (and some other United Kingdom dependent territories) appear to be omitted from the "Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index". (See below):

"For the attention:

International Secretariat Transparency International (TI) Alt Moabit 96 10559 Berlin, Germany

Dear Sir,

I am surprised that the Isle of Man and other UK dependencies such as the Channel Islands do not appear to be assessed and included as part of Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index? If this is the case it is of concern.

There are periodic concerns raised within the Isle of Man about practises within the jurisdiction. However, on the positive side the Isle of Man government have considerably strengthened legislation to tackle fraud and abuse in the past decade.

The Isle of Man has enjoyed unprecedented growth as a financial services centre and also a global provider of services including a major shipping register (by tonnage) and a recently established aircraft register.

Therefore its apparent omission from your organisations report, as a specific entity, is something which you may wish to consider rectifying.

Yours sincerely"

Transparency International describes itself as "the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption, brings people together in a powerful worldwide coalition to end the devastating impact of corruption on men, women and children around the world. TI's mission is to create change towards a world free of corruption."
