UN Urged to Hold UK To Account Over Protocol

Communiqué de presse publié le 19/10/11 12:10 dans Europe par pour

The UN CAT has been asked to consider pressing the UK authorities over their failure to provide specific training on the Istanbul Protocol at the next periodic report to the Committee from that country.

Earlier this year the CAT criticised Ireland for similar shortcomings.

Human Rights Treaties Division (HRTD)
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)

I note in the Committee's concluding observations on its recent report on Ireland:

(voir le site)

the Committee draws the Irish governments attention to the need to provide specific training on the Istanbul Principles (Paragraph 30)

The Celtic League has recently consulted relevant authorities in:

N Ireland
Scotland
England and Wales
Isle of Man

We would advise that no specific training on the Istanbul Protocol is provided in any of these jurisdictions.

We trust the Committee will raise this matter with the British government when the next periodic report is made by the United Kingdom and dependencies.

For information the Celtic League is an accredited UN NGO.

Yours sincerely
