The Isle of Man Police Force has sent a holding reply to the Celtic League following a query to the Force about its commitment to Manx language and culture - the Deputy Chief Constable says the matter is being given «due consideration» (see below).

So far the Celtic League initiative which has seen approaches made to Police Forces in several Celtic countries has had mixed response. The most positive commitment has, perhaps not surprisingly come from Police Forces in Wales

Dear Mr Tal-e-bot

IOM Constabulary: Manx Language and Cultural Commitment

Thank you for your letter dated 4th February 2008 addressed to the Chief Constable. However, the Chief Constable felt that being manx myself I might be in a better position to respond to your questions.

I will give the matter my due consideration and come back to you.

Yours sincerely

Gary Roberts
