The Celtic League have written to the Department of Energy and Climate Change and asked them to comment on reports that some levels of specific radioactive elements have increased in the area around the Sellafield plant in recent years.
Text of correspondence below:
«Dear Minister,
We understand that in recent years concentrations of caesium-137, plutonium isotopes and americium-241 in some mud samples from the Ravenglass estuary near Sellafield have been gradually increasing.
Could DECC clarify if this is the case and if so can you explain how these increases have occurred?»
