NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
It looks like Allan Bell MHK, who Mec Vannin term the Isle of Man ?Chief Sinister?, has not managed to draw a line under the ?H? word provoked by the TURNERGATE affair.
Having enlisted support from the unlikely quarter of Liberal Vannin in the person of Kate Beecroft MHK to rubbish Cat Turner allegations and effectively, from a Party discipline line, ?slap her dawn? the Chief Minister must have thought that the matter would die the death.
Ironically if Allan had kept his mouth shut in the first place it probably would have dropped below the radar fairly swiftly. However our Chief Minister can?t resist any opportunity to hector and lecture dissenters so effectively he gave the story ?legs?.
Anyway just as he probably thought it had died another Local Authority Councillor Andrew Jessop has weighed in and in unambiguous and explicit terms has said Turner was right we are a tax haven – end off (see link)!
No doubt the Chief Minister may feel inclined to weigh in once again but perhaps on this occasion some of his more prudent colleagues could try to prevail upon him to exercise restraint.
That may be difficult because apparently these days the IOM Council of Ministers meetings are a bit like the Politburo meetings of the Albanian Communist Party under Dictator, Enver Hoxha, during which Hoxha would brook no dissent to the extent of shooting one of his deputies at one meeting. COMIN is not quite that bad – yet!
Photo: Andrew Jessop ? the Chief Minister will have his work cut out shutting him up no sympathetic MHKs to ride to his rescue this time!
