Communiqué de presse publié le 6/08/15 19:10 dans Europe par pour

NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The International Maritime Organisation has responded to our queries about conditions and safety at sea following a shocking series of articles in the New York Times about the issue. One particularly disturbing and graphic video accompanying the articles shows a number of men (it is not clear but they are possibly migrants) being murdered at sea. The IMO say they do not respond to media reports but they will pursue the matter if it is raised by a National government which is an IMO Member State. The Celtic League has conveyed the text of the information to the author of the articles. ?3rd August 2015 Mr J B Moffatt Director of Information Celtic League 3 Imman Stronnag Peel Isle of Man IM5 1GP Dear Mr. Moffatt, Thank you for your letter of 31 July 2015 to the Secretary-General, who has asked me to respond. I note your comments on the recently published articles in the New York Times which highlight reported breaches of international law. Whilst this Organization cannot respond to assertions made in the media, IMO (and ILO) Member Governments will doubtless take appropriate action to respond to any factual information presented to them arising from such investigative reports. I will advise you if any such action is taken by Member States at IMO. Thank you for your continued interest in the safety and welfare of the world?s seafarers. With best regards, Yours sincerely, A Winbow ASG/Director Maritime Safety Division?
