HMI Decline Request for Nuclear Fire Safety Information at this Time

Communiqué de presse publié le 11/01/15 23:10 dans Europe par pour

NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Chief Inspector of Nuclear Installations (HMI) has deferred a response to a Celtic League query about fire safety at nuclear plants which we submitted to him in November (see link): (voir le site) The League raised the renewed concerns about fire safety in relation to Heysham nuclear plant and the Sellafield site. The HMI have said they will publish a comprehensive report covering the period 2001 ? (March) 2014 (and thereafter on an annual basis). They also say that ?Final consultation is taking place with duty holders, and as such immediate disclosure undermine the pre-publication procedures?. They also advise that the League can if it wishes appeal the decision to withhold the information to the information Commissioner. However the Celtic League has declined to proceed down that avenue. We have however asked the HMI for a clearer time-frame within which the information will be made public.
