NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Celtic League welcome the positive statement from Department of Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson that there will be no cuts to emergency services (see link). The Minister (who is somewhat of a stickler for facts) will recall that as far back as December of last year the Celtic League said any austerity driven cuts should not impact emergency services. We are extremely pleased the DHA seems to have followed our suggestion which is reassuring for the public generally. We were also critical of attempts last year by DHA officials to silence criticism from workers about alleged planned cutbacks (see link). Hopefully the Minister's words signal an end to any such intimidatory moves in the future.
