Catalan, Basque and Galician - the next EU official languages? ELEN Press Conference 18th September

The European Language Equality Network (ELEN) and its member organisations that represent Catalan, Basque and Galician, will be holding a press conference next Monday 18th September at 16.00 in the press centre of the European Parliament, Brussels.

The organisations will discuss their ongoing campaigns for official status, the benefits it will bring to their languages, and other details about inclusion as a full EU official language.

In July the Spanish Government issued a proposal calling on the EU Council to make Catalan, Basque and Galician EU official languages. On the 19th September the issue is set to be discussed and voted upon at the EU Council.

Il y a de forte chance que le catalan ne soit pas reconnu malgré qu’il soit parlé par plus de 8 millions de personnes et bien plus qu’une dizaine de langues officielles ( estonien , bulgare, slovaque,…)
