AGM: Opening Address On CL TV

Communiqué de presse publié le 21/11/11 12:10 dans Europe par pour

A number of well wishers sent messages of support to the Celtic League ahead of its fiftieth anniversary conference this year.

The leaders of Sinn Fein and the Scottish National Party sent apologies for not being able to attend the conference due to prior engagements and First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond, wrote that he was supportive of the work that the League carries out, adding that:

I believe that we have a lot to learn from our Celtic neighbours and there are great opportunities and benefits for us through our commonality in terms of our language, history and culture. We in the Scottish Government continue to support our languages through our commitments and polices and look to work with others in these areas.

The Falkirk Provost, Pat Reid, officially opened the Celtic League's public session with a reception in his private chambers and a speech, where he welcomed delegates and attendees to the Scottish town of Falkirk, which hosted the conference this year.
