Communique de presse publié le 19/05/16 0:10 dans Europe par pour

The Mannin branch Celtic League environmental spokesman, Allen Moore, has submitted comment to the consultation on the Inshore Marine Zoning Plan it is set out below. In line with a recent AGM resolution the League calls once again for more preference to be afforded to indigenous fishermen:

?Consultation on Inshore Marine Zoning Plan for the 0-3 Nautical Mile Area of the Isle of Man Territorial Sea

We have read the consultation document and agree with the principles behind the marine zoning plan to enable the sustainable management and development of the Island’s fishing activities and the protection of marine habitats. If habitats are not protected, the resources will run out.

Note also that the Mannin branch of the Celtic League put forward the following motion, which was adopted at the AGM of the Celtic League in Dublin on 25th March 2016:

?This AGM recognises the importance of the decision of the UNESCO to grant biosphere status to the Isle of Man. It calls on the Isle of Man government to:

(a) Reappraise developments plans in greenfield areas.

(b) Further extend Marine Reserves around the Isle of Man and curtail as far as is practical access by non-indigenous fishing vessels to the territorial sea area.?
