NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE

Despite DED lauding the amazing increase in tourist numbers allegedly coming to the Isle of Man apparently the Hotel sector is struggling to the extent government needs to support it.

Here is a report on Manx Radio which ironically seems to be at odds with another report on the same day trumpeting arrivals:

Anyway ?tough luck? for the Hotel trade we have been ripped of enough by that sector over the years and now we know visitor numbers are soaring there should be no more grants and hand-outs of our money to them.

Apparently there is also a need to relax work permits (this comes after DED announced that permits need to be relaxed for IT and E-gaming). I?m afraid we can?t wear this the hotel trade is not skilled work and perhaps if they didn?t pay poverty pay and discourage trade union membership they would not have difficulty recruiting staff.

Work permit legislation is becoming a joke it?s getting to the stage where Manx workers whose job protection is being erased will have to occupy Laurence Skelly?s office to get the message across ?you are going to far?!

I?M SORRY NO MONEY FOR THE HOSPITALITY TRADE BEGGING BOWL from the public purse.

NO RELAXATION OF WORK PERMITS let them start paying decent wages and stop exploiting staff there would be no shortage of job applicants then.
