NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Irish Foreign Minister has sent a positive response to a concern raised by the Celtic League about International Maritime Organisation Convention A709 (17) which govern the interaction of submarines and Motor Fishing Vessels. The League had expressed concern about the application of the Convention by submarine operating powers given the increase in the number of submarine/MFV incidents in recent times. The League felt it was important to raise the issue with the Government of Ireland because of their very constructive involvement in the 1980s when the League campaigned for the introduction of A709 (17) which was preceded by A599.
