NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Celtic League has written to the NPCC, HMIC and HMICS asking if they have any up to date statistical data on the impact of civilianisation of Police Services. Early this week the Isle of Man department of Home Affairs commenced a consultation on possible change options within the police including civilianisation of some functions. Copies of the correspondence to NPCC and the HMIC are set out below: ?Chief Constable Sara Thornton Chairperson National Police Chief?s Council 10 Victoria Street London SW1H 0NN 6th June 2015 Dear Ms Thornton, I am writing to ask if NPCC (or your predecessor organisation the ACPO) have compiled any recent data on the extent and impact of civilianisation of the Police Service. I have looked on line at your website and cannot see little reference to same (I note only one item entitled ?Cost of Cops? September 2011 is there anything more recent?). If there is a link to any recent data I would be grateful if you could furnish same. Alternatively if there is a print publication if you could furnish a copy of that it would be most helpful. The Celtic League are hoping to respond to a recent consultation issued in relation to Police Services in the Isle of Man (see link) and we would wish any comment we may make to be informed by the best up to date information from those in key sectors of the Police Service such as NPCC. There is a ?tight window? of opportunity in relation to this consultation and whilst I appreciate the pressures which may apply to your organisation an early response would be most helpful.
