NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The General Secretary has written to the Leader of the Scottish National Party, Nicola Sturgeon, congratulating her on the momentous victory achieved by the SNP in yesterday's United Kingdom general election. The SNP took 56 of the 59 Westminster seats in the election and virtually wiped out all the other mainstream Westminster parties in Scotland: ?St. Andrew's House Regent Road Edinburgh EH1 3DG Friday 8th May 2015 A First Minister Nicola Sturgeon ker SNP General Election Result 2015 I am writing to congratulate the Scottish National Party on the momentous and historic achievement of the Westminster general election result. I have been following the campaign in Scotland avidly and have witnessed from afar the positive and progressive rhetoric from the SNP, which has resulted in the success that has been produced in this election by your Party. The election result demonstrates the political shift in mindset of the electorate in Scotland, which I experienced first hand from talking to people when I visited your country last September during the referendum campaign. I hope that the success of the SNP in this election can be emulated next year during the Scottish elections and will encourage you to plan for a further referendum on independence in the next few years. I know that many of our members in the other Celtic countries and beyond have been looking to the political developments in Scotland over the past few years with interest and I know that some of the SNP successes have provided a source of motivation and inspiration for people. I wish you every success in your continued leadership of the Party and congratulations on the result once again. Yn lel/Yours sincerely Rhisiart Tal-e-bot General Secretary Celtic League? See link.
