NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE The Manx Branch of the Celtic League at its monthly meeting in November urged a renewed effort by the General Council of the League to pressure both the British and Manx governments to ensure that the Chronicles of Man and the Isles are exhibited permanently in the Isle of Man The medieval manu has been held for many years by the British Library although its ownership is disputed. Manx branch members discussing the issue alluded to the new controversy surrounding the Elgin Marbles and suggestions that in relation to that issue the Greek and UK governments could do a swap to resolve the matter. Somewhat tongue in cheek one Manx branch member suggested that ?we could give them back their (Lt) Governor if they handed over the Chronicles! The branch will now prepare a strategy proposal ahead of the next Celtic League AGM and General Council meeting planned for Dublin in the spring of 2015 J B Moffatt (Mr) Director of Information 25/11/14 (Please note that replies to correspondence received by the League and posted on CL News are usually scanned hard copies.
