NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE
Celtic League seldom simply recycles articles from external sources but every so often an item appears which we believe complements concerns that the League has previously articulated.
One such article is a well researched piece that was posted some weeks ago on Indymedia Ireland.
The article covers the human rights abuses suffered by Basque political prisoners in jail in both Spain and France. In particular the article cites the difficulty posed to families of prisoners by the policy (particularly of the Spanish government) of locating prisoners in jails many miles from the Basque homeland.
Abuse of Basque political prisoners and the `dispersal' policy of the Spanish government are issues that the Celtic League has raised periodically with both the United Nations and regional rights bodies such as the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT)
