OECD Queried About UK Police Bribery and Corruption

Communiqué de presse publié le 25/07/11 12:10 dans Europe par pour Celtic League

The Celtic League has asked the OECD if it will be undertaking any enquiries into the alleged bribery and corruption involving the United Kingdom Metropolitan Police Service.

Over the years the OECD has often spoken out and demanded assurances from small jurisdictions about the need for tight regulation of public probity. It will be interesting to see how it responds to a major bribery and corruption allegations involving a global Corporation and the main police service in one of the largest global financial centres.

Dear Secretary General,

Ref: Alleged Bribery and Corruption United Kingdom Metropolitan Police Service

You will be aware of the serious allegations about corruption and bribery involving the United Kingdom Metropolitan Police Service.

Given that these allegations involve possible bribery and corruption of a major police service in one of the main global financial centres and involve allegations of the involvement of a major global media business Corporation will the OECD be asking the United Kingdom government for full disclosure of these matters?

Additionally will the OECD be using its own anti-bribery and corruption bodies (and the statutory instruments available to them) to enquire into the matter?

Yours sincerely

J B Moffatt (Mr)
Director of Information
