The Breton Party wanted to organise its fourth congress in Quimper, so as to salute the important progress of the Finistere federation, that has reached around a hundred members. This young party, created in Nantes in 2003, and which claims around 500 members today, officially launched its campaign for the European elections and its National Council was renewed. The Executive Office has been renewed with the same members, but the National Council now has 33 members, instead of 22 before. The president is still Gérard Ollieric, from Mesquer in the Guérance peninsula, the vice-president is Jean-Claude Rivallain, the treasurer Hervé Bouché. Emile Granville is now spokesman; this post has been created on that occasion. The secretary is Gérard Guillemot; the person in charge for internal communication is Alphonse Samson and the one in charge for external communication is Jacques-Yves Le Touze.

For the European elections, the list will be led by Émile Granville, deputy mayor of Redon, followed by Odile Forniol, city councillor of Guidel, and Hervé Le Guen from Lorient. The Breton Party declared yesterday its ambition to obtain at least 15% of the votes in the 2010 regional elections with a list of union.

The Breton Party proclaims itself defensor of the Breton interests. In long-term, its objective is the creation of real autonomous institutions, as in Catalonia or Scotland. As a sign of its new growth, it is going to open permanent headquarters in Lorient, where it is strongly established
