From one shore to the other, Saint Telo, a link between two peoples : Welsh and Bretons.

Twinning Plogoneg – Llandysul

On August 20th 1989, Plogonnec, a small town in South-West Brittany, between Douarnenez and Kemper/Quimper, 2 miles south-east from Locronan, confirmed its twinning with Llandysul in Wales, by signing the charter.

The twinning committee decided to celebrate its 20th anniversary by creating a sound and lights show whose theme will be a hero that the Welsh and Bretons share: Saint Telo.

Searching for volunteers

During the forum to present the show, last January 31th in the Socio-cultural space of Plogoneg, 150 people have registered to take part in the adventure, as volunteers or extras (or both!). This number has now increased to 200.

A film and a conference about Saint Telo

Success of the evening devoted to the character of Saint Telo, February 6th at City space in Plogoneg: nearly 120 people attended the screening, the first, a film of Ronan Hirrien (French TV channel FR3) “Lannoù Telo”and the conference by Joël Hascoët, anthropologist, about the legend of Saint Telo in Brittany and Wales.

Visit Wales from August 27th to 30th 2009 in Brittany. ■
