Tony Leamon before his arrest in 2007.

Devon and Cornwall Police have said that they cannot comply with a request for a breakdown of costs of the Tony Leamon investigation because they «cannot identify any specific records or documents held by the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary that will satisfy» the Celtic Leagues request (see below)

«Dear Mr Tal-e-bot,

I write in connection with your email dated September 18, 2008, which was received by this office on September 18, 2008 requesting the following information:

'How much (in pounds sterling) did the investigation into Tony Leamon cost the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary? Note: Tony Leamon of 3 Pendarves Road, Falmouth TR11 2TW was arrested in September 2007 in Cornwall and was held on bail until 31st July 2008'

This is to inform you that I cannot identify any specific records or documents held by the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary that will satisfy your request based on the details that you have provided. I regret that your request cannot be met.

Devon and Cornwall Constabulary does not usually cost individual investigations, and therefore this information is not available. In order to obtain this information it would mean backtracking to gain access to those officers involved, and times spent along with any other peripheral costs. This would be a huge task, and also cannot be guaranteed to be comprehensive.

I apologise for the delay in responding to your request. this has been entirely due to the high level of requests submitted to the Unit, and the reduction in staffing levels by two thirds.

I do hope this delay has not caused you any considerable inconvenience, and I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

If you are not satisfied with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision you should write to the Force Information Manager, Information Management Department, Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, Middlemoor, Exeter, EX2 7HQ, Devon.
