The Young Bretons/Ar Vretoned Yaouank have organised their first international event during the Lorient Interceltic Festival. The aim of this event was to create links with other movements that have the same ideas as we do, and to make the civil society conscious of the political, economic and cultural situation of Brittany, and generally of the stateless nations in Europe.

Basque and Flemish activists of Euzko Gaztedi and Jong N-VA* paid us a nice visit in Brittany last week-end.

During these days, we discussed the political situation of our respective countries. There are obstacles in every nation state in Europe, but France is way behind in every respect. This meeting also gave us the opportunity to debate on various subjects, such as environment protection or education management. On this topic, the Basque and Flemish governments, unlike the Regional Council of Brittany, are competent, and can therefore implement the most adapted policy at the local level. A meeting has also been set with the leaders of the Breton Party.

During this week-end, our guests also enjoyed through the Interceltic Festival Brittany's rich culture and party spirit !

At a press conference, the delegates of the three organisations took a common declaration that reminds our desire to build a federal Europe, to implement local government and the subsidiarity principle ; in every case, the citizens of a country must be able to decide on the political frame in which they wish to live.

These days allowed the Young Bretons to see that our ideas are largely spread and appreciated in Europe, especially in most of the stateless nations. This is a motivating and reassuring perspective for our young movement. We wish out Basque and Flemish friends to attain their objective of emancipation, and we hope to set the same dynamic in Brittany, so that our country has a similar development to their within a united Europe.

Bevet Breizh dieub ! Gora Euskadi askatuta ! Leve vrij Vlaanderen !
