Preder launches an on-line dictionary that is intended to become the workspace of networked Breton linguists.
The association Preder (voir le site) with the cooperation of Agence Bretagne Presse launched an on-line Breton dictionary based on previous Preder publications of Breton specialized dictionaries written by linguists such as Guy Étienne or Yann Baol An Noalleg.
Some of these dictionaries are Breton-French-English making the text trilingual in some instances. More dictionaries will be integrated including a generalist one. The result is already an extraordinary compilation of modern technical and business breton terms that challenges the preconceived idea that the Breton language orginated with and is tied to an agrarian society that will disappear with this agrarian society.
Behind the new on-line dictionary there is a huge database that is going to be used by networked linguists to modify and create new definitions directly online via the Internet. To be sure that anybody can access the shared data and easily translate Breton, French and English terms, Preder has accepted to give access to all students and friends of the Breton language.

* Preder was founded in 1958 as a journal of science and philosophy and became the Preder Publications in 1970. A non-profit-making organisation, Preder has the following aims :
- to retrieve the linguistic wealth of Breton and the other Celtic languages ;
- to promote Breton as a modern language by developing this wealth within
the contemporary world ;
- to make teaching manuals available in this modern language ;
- to publish scientific, philosophical, linguistic and philological texts based on this
recovering / recovery and development of the language.
